When Chris was diagnosed with cancer, his loving wife of 30 years, George, stood by him and made sure he was taken care of. After meeting at 19, Chris and George have stuck together and Chris wanted to be able to show his gratitude for all she has done for him their whole life, and especial now since cancer has entered their lives. He longed to take her to the Jamison Valley and do what they both love the most, walking and exploring the bush.
"Here is my beautiful bride. She is as beautiful as the day I met her. I first saw George at Rooty Hill RSL on New Year's Eve in 1979. We were both nineteen. I said to my sister, 'see that girl over there, I'm gonna marry her one day. I knew that day we would be together forever and we were married five years later in 1984.
"I've always wanted to give George a honeymoon to remember and Katoomba would have to be one of our favourite places in the world. We love the bush walks even though we are a lot slower these days. From the moment we stepped unto the limo all our troubles were gone. We were treated like royalty. The staff was amazing and we felt like family. Our room was incredible, we couldn't believe it and then we looked out our balcony and my god! There it was, the beautiful Jamison Valley. I texted my sister and said, 'I hope you enjoyed my funeral cause I think I have died and gone to heaven.' We felt like VIP's getting the photos done. I can see how happy she is in all of them. It makes me cry with happiness. Words cannot express what you have done for us. It was like we didn't have cancer in our lives for 5 days... and you have given us strength to deal with what's ahead. We will never forget the time we had. It was everything and more than I expected."
