Tanya had one special dream: to share in the magic of touching snow for the very first time with her family. Her beautiful letter below about her life with cancer and her love for her kids certainly brought tears to our eyes but made us so grateful she got to experience this extraordinary dream. Thank you from the bottom of our hears to all those who make dreams like Tanya's come true.
"I was first diagnosed with breast cancer when my son was 4, so since a young age my children have had to deal with me being through treatment and hospital visits etc. There is so much I am going to miss out on experiencing in my kids' lives, especially my 7 and 8 year-old son and daughter. Growing up in Queensland it has always been a dream to see and play in the snow. But until now I have never seen the snow and neither have my children.
I love winter and the idea of building a snowman with my kids, or having a snowball fight has been on my mind a lot. As a family of 6 it takes a while to save for any holiday so we were saving and planning on taking the kids next year down to Thredbo. When I was diagnosed and told how little time I had left I realised there was no next year and it was now or never for our dream holiday. I want my kids to have an amazing adventure to think back on in the years to come. And being able to see the look on their faces the first time they see and touch the snow will live in my heart for the rest of my days. There are so many special events in my kids' lives I am going to miss so being able to share this adventure with them means more to me than words can express.
For a while we can forget about my diagnosis and just look forward to an amazing "first experience " for all of us.
Now I am terminal it was the best feeling being able to go away together as a family and just for a while forget what is coming and just be a normal fun loving family. Nothing can ever take away from us the fun we had and I will never forget the look on the kid's faces when we went tobogganing for the first time and built a snowman together.
Thank you to Dreams2Live4 and everyone who donates to make dreams come true for us."
