Taz dreamt of playing and recording his songs with his band Open Heart Surgery

The band 'Open Heart Surgery'
Taran (Taz) has been dealing with leukemia since first being diagnosed at nine years old. After more than 18 months of treatment, his family and he hoped he had been cured. Sadly, in March 2021 before his 16th birthday, he relapsed. The treatment regime was intense with chemotherapy, stem cell treatments, and missing all but five weeks of school across that year. During that time, he managed to complete a VCE in Music Production. More bad news and more treatment followed in 2022 and 2023 and now options are limited for Taran in terms of treatment.
Throughout his many stays in hospital Taran set up a “hospital studio” with a guitar, keyboard, and computer. Now he is enrolled in a Bachelor of Music specialising in Sound Production and is a member of a band called “Open Heart Surgery”. As music is his passion, Taran’s dream was to have a long weekend away with his band, recording and performing songs that he and other band members have composed.
How cool! We were so glad we could help fund Taran’s dream and are looking forward to hearing Open Heart Surgery.
