Gary dreamt of recreating a memorable harbour cruise to say thank you to his supportive family.
Gary told us he had always been healthy, without any time in hospital apart from his birth 74 years ago! Last year however, he was diagnosed with kidney cancer that had already advanced, and he found himself in some debilitating pain and suffering weight loss.
Married for 51 years with three boys, all married, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren - family is very important to Gary and he dreamt about creating a memorable time for wife Margaret, his sons and their wives as acknowledgement of their support, physical, emotional, and spiritual, over the past 10 months.
Gary told us “when I was in my teens, we had a cruise on Sydney Harbour, and I have fond memories of that event with the night lights glistening across the water as you cruise from bay to bay. I would love to do a twilight dinner cruise on Sydney Harbour, accompanied by my family. This would create a memorable occasion and be a 'thank you' to them for their support. Telling us after the cruise that it had been a "fantastic family time together"
Gary and Margaret then experienced the luxury of the Shangri-La Sydney adding “Thank you for your fantastic organisation and the hope and comfort it brings to cancer sufferers.”
With our thanks to San Foundation for helping us to make this dream come true.
