A musical journey for Margot
We always say that dreams come in all shapes and sizes, and when we received Margot’s application, it became a new and inspiring mission for our Dream Makers.
Margot had spent years dedicated to her passion for music as the Principal Bassoonist with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. However, a neurological condition called Dystonia meant that she was no longer able to continue playing the bassoon, bringing an unexpected end to her performing career.
Rather than stepping away from music, Margot found a new way to express herself through composition. Creating music became her way of continuing the journey she loved so deeply.
Later, Margot received a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer. Despite the challenges she faced, her passion for music only grew stronger. She dreamed of hearing her compositions brought to life, performed, recorded, and shared with others.
When Margot reached out to Dreams2Live4, her dream was clear: to hear her choral compositions performed by a choir and, through that experience, reconnect with the musical world she had been forced to leave behind.
The incredible Graduate Singers Choir in Adelaide offered their support, helping turn Margot’s dream into a reality. Margot was able to attend rehearsals and be present for the recording of two of her choral pieces, hearing her music performed live by the talented voices of the choir.
For Margot, the experience was deeply moving.
“It was so special to be able to sit there and listen to my compositions being sung so beautifully by the choir. The whole experience, from the very first day of contacting Dreams2Live4, has been incredible.”
Margot's story is a beautiful reminder that dreams can evolve, adapt, and continue to inspire - no matter what challenges life brings.
